Westminster, Colorado is a city of around 109,000 spread about an area of about 33 square miles. It is the located in Adams and Jefferson Counties and is the seventh largest city in the state. Westminster is a largely affluent city and is a suburb to Denver and was recently ranked as the 24th best place to live in the nation.

The city is reachable by several notable highways including Interstate 25, US Highway 36, US-287, State Highway 95, SH-121, and SH-128. Public transportation is provided by the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD), which provides bus service to Westminster and surrounding metropolitan area.

With a humid continental climate, Westminster has hot summers, cold winters, moderate humidity and violent thunderstorms. Snowfall can be low to moderate but blizzards are known to affect the area. During late spring and early summer, the region can see violent thunderstorms with severe thunder and lightning storms, torrential rain, hail, and an occasional but rare tornado.
