Toledo AUTO INSURANCE (OH)
Part of the Midwestern United States, Toledo is located in northwest Ohio, bordering the state of Michigan and Lake Erie. Located in the Great Lakes climate area, Toledo’s weather is moderated by the lakes and is more humid than nearby inland cities.
While temperatures in Toledo are fairly standard with four distinct seasons, Toledo’s tornado activity is 109% greater than the overall U.S. average. In 1965 a category 4 tornado struck the city, killing 18 people, injuring hundreds more and doing up to $50,000,000 of damage. The city is always at risk for another similar event.
Toledo is divided into 32 distinct neighborhoods and districts. Due to the city’s location along the Maumee River with access to the Miami and Erie Canals as well as the New York to Chicago railway line Toledo has historically seen rapid growth in commerce, trade and transportation.
Historically successful in the glass and auto assembly industries, today Toledo is also known for its sports teams, education and art.
Crime rates in Toledo are above national averages with very high numbers of thefts, burglaries and other property crimes. Violent crime numbers, while still higher than the national averages, are lower than those of property crimes and significant decreases have been seen in recent years.
