San Jose Auto Insurance (CA)
San Jose, California is the tenth largest city in the United States, located in the southern San Francisco Bay area along the Pacific coast. Since World War II, the city has developed from a small, farming community to a booming technology center known as Silicon Valley.
The city is divided into four distinct valleys: The Almaden, Evergreen, Santa Clara, and Coyote Valleys. San Jose is surrounded by mountains on three sides, largely sheltering it from rain and wind and keeping temperatures fairly consistent.
Moderate earthquakes originating from nearby Calaveras Fault regularly shake San Jose. The city also lies near the San Andreas Fault which, though not active since the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, puts San Jose in a potentially catastrophic area. Other faults nearby include the Monte Vista Fault, the South Hayward Fault, the Northern Calaveras Fault and the Central Calaveras Fault.
San Jose’s nearby universities introduce engineering and computer science graduates into the local economy every year, contributing to the rapid technological growth of the area. The cost of living in San Jose and the surrounding areas ranks among the highest in the country.
Despite steadily rising crime rates in San Jose over recent years, it is still among the safest large cities in the country. The most common crimes include property and auto theft, burglary, and assault.
