Reno Auto Insurance (NV)
Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Reno, Nevada is known as The Biggest Little City in the World. With around 220,000 residents, Reno is the fourth largest city in the state.
Reno is seated east of the Sierra Nevada’s and west of the Great Basin at around 4400 feet above sea level. There are numerous faults running through the region so earthquakes are always a risk. Because it is located in the rain shadow of the mountains, Reno’s annual rainfall levels are low. Snowfall varies from low or moderate to very heavy during certain years. Summers tend to be quite warm with temperature averaging in the low to mid 90s. In addition, the region is known for being quite windy throughout the year.
Reno’s economy is largely based on gaming and tourism though business has declined in recent years as Indian gaming gains more popularity. As a result, many of downtown’s hotel/casinos have been demolished or converted to condos. The area also features many annual celebrations and events including the classic car convention Hot August Night, Street Vibrations (motorcycle rally) and the Great Reno Balloon Race, just to name a few.
Reno’s crime rate is a mixed bag. Property crimes are typically higher than the Nevada average while violent crimes, at least in recent years, have dropped to just below it.
