Raleigh Auto Insurance (NC)
Located on the east coast of the United States, Raleigh is at the meeting point of the North American Piedmont and Atlantic Coastal Plain regions. It is the capital of the state of North Carolina and one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
While the city generally sees moderate temperatures with mild winters and warm summers, Raleigh has been known to experience more severe conditions as well. Winter often brings snow and ice storms, freezing rain and sleet, often causing minor damage to the city. The severity of these winter storms is the result of cold air damming along the Appalachian Mountains.
Droughts are not uncommon during the summer months and autumn occasionally brings hurricanes and tropical storms. While generally moderate in severity, strong and damaging hurricanes have caused significant damage in Raleigh, mostly from falling trees.
Raleigh’s economy is based on banking and financial services, medical, clothing and apparel, paper products, electronic and telecommunications equipment, food processing and pharmaceuticals. The city is a part of North Carolina’s Research Triangle for high-tech and biotech research and advanced textile development. Raleigh is also a major domestic retail shipper and wholesale grocery distributing point.
The city is generally divided into eight major regions, differing in demographics, culture, and history. Crime levels are slightly below national averages and have been decreasing in recent years making Raleigh among the safest cities in North Carolina.
