Pittsburgh AUTO INSURANCE (PA)

Pittsburgh is located in the Ohio River Valley and is the second-largest city in Pennsylvania. The Allegheny and Monongahela rivers surround the city’s central business district near the formation of the Ohio River creating what is known as the Golden Triangle.

The city experiences cold winters and hot summers with heavy precipitation during spring due to its location along the Allegheny Mountains. Pittsburgh has also experienced severe blizzards in 1993 and 2010 as well as damaging tornados and remnants of hurricanes such as Hurricane Ivan in 2004.

Divided into ninety neighborhoods relative to the central downtown area, much of the city retains ethnic ties reflecting Pittsburgh’s history of immigration. The city has numerous German, Italian, Polish, African American, Eastern European and Jewish neighborhoods even today.

Every year, millions of international and domestic tourists come to Pittsburgh for the cultural and historical sites as well as performing arts, entertainment, music and business. Historically known for its success in the steel industry, Pittsburgh has since developed its economy around healthcare, education, technology, robotics and financial services as well as oil and natural gas.

Although property crime in Pittsburgh is just slightly above the national average, the city’s murder rate was once significantly higher. Vast improvements have been made in recent years and while the 2003 murder rate was nearly three times the national average, the city was ranked the 7

safest in the U.S. with regard to violent crime by 2009. In 2010, both Forbes and Yahoo! identified Pittsburgh as the most livable city in the country.
