Milwaukee AUTO INSURANCE (WI)
Located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin. It sits between the Menomonee, Kinnickinnic, and Milwaukee rivers with numerous smaller bodies of water located throughout the city. Shaped by glaciers, Milwaukee is known for its steep bluffs and inland lakes.
The city’s location in the Great Lakes Region means cold, windy, snowy winters combined with hot and humid summers and rapidly changing weather year round. Milwaukee is known for frequent thunderstorms, which are often dangerous and damaging to the city.
Although historically known for brewing and manufacturing, Milwaukee has since also become known for their healthcare and tourism industries. 27% of jobs are in health services and the city has become a popular destination for sailing, windsurfing, and kite surfing on Lake Michigan as well as a number of ethnic dining and cultural festivals, a part of Milwaukee’s rich and diverse history.
An educational hub of the region, Milwaukee is home to numerous colleges and universities. The city has one of the highest per capita student populations in North America, ranking sixth overall.
Milwaukee was once consistently ranked in the top ten most dangerous large cities in the country. While violent crime rates have somewhat improved, the city still ranks above national averages for homicide, rape, robbery, and property crime. Gang activity in the city is also extremely prevalent. Law enforcement agencies are working together to address these issues and clean up the streets of Milwaukee.
