Las Vegas AUTO INSURANCE (NV)
The largest city in the state of Nevada, Las Vegas is known as the Entertainment Capital of the Word or “Sin City” due to its reputation as a center for gambling, night life, shopping, and fine dining.
Located in the American southwest, Las Vegas is surrounded by deserts and is prone to torrential flash flooding. The city has reacted by constructing advanced sewage treatment facilities but still faces issues due to fast population growth and environmental constraints. Homelessness is another major issue in the city.
Due to the arid basin surrounding the city, Las Vegas has experienced major fresh water resource issues in recent years. The city has responded with strong water conservation efforts, including a movement for xeriscapes and scheduled watering groups for residential landscaping.
The city’s economy is primarily based on the tourism, gaming, entertainment, retail and dining industries. Millions of tourists from all over the world flock to the city every year to partake in any number of vices that are permitted. Following the recent economic crisis however, and the subsequent loss of disposable income, Las Vegas saw the highest home foreclosure rate in the country and rapid business downturn.
City officials are currently seeking to diversify Las Vegas’ economy to include manufacturing and banking but major city attractions remain casinos and hotels along the well-known Las Vegas Strip.
Overall crime rates for Las Vegas are significantly higher than national averages posing another serious issue for the city. Property crime rates in the city are among the highest in the country.
