Kendall, Florida is a census-designated place (CDP) of around 82,000 spread about an area of about 16 square miles and is located in Miami-Dade County. Kendall’s most notable employer is Pollo Tropical, which maintains its headquarters there.
Several highways provide access to the area including Interstate 95, I-75, Florida’s Turnpike, as well as US Highway 1. Compared to the rest of the state Kendall’s annual fatal accident count is almost always higher. Public transportation is provided by Miami-Dade Transit with bus service throughout the Miami-Dade County area and Tri-Rail is a commuter rail system from North Palm Beach all the way south to Miami.
The city is part of the tropical rainforest climate area with warm winters, hot summers, and a high probability of drenching rains during the summer months. Hurricane season runs from June through November and Kendall is most likely to be hit during Cape Verde season, from mid-August through September.
