Gary, Indiana is a city of around 103,000 spread about an area of about 57 square miles. It is the located in Lake County and is the third-largest city in the state. During late spring and early summer, the region can see violent thunderstorms with severe thunder and lightning storms, torrential rain, hail, and an occasional but rare tornado.
