Denver Auto Insurance (CO)

Located in Colorado, Denver lies along the South Platte River Valley just east of the Rocky Mountains and the west of the Great Plains. The city is often referred to as the “Mile High City” due to its elevation of about one mile above sea level. Denver is divided into 79 official neighborhoods, which tend to differ widely from each other along socio-economic and historical lines.

The prairies and deserts surrounding Denver protect it from harsh winds and cold. Clashing masses of air from Arctic and Pacific storm fronts often bring snow, warm air from the Gulf of Mexico causes strong thunderstorms and continental warm air is generally responsible for the city’s warm and dry conditions. While Denver’s weather is generally mild, late summer monsoons often bring severe thunderstorms to the city following months of dry, hot summer weather.

Denver is a major transportation hub within the United States and has become a natural location for storage and distribution of goods and services to the Mountain States due to its convenient location. The city is a key trade point for the country and its economy is largely energy and mining-based with more than 700 petroleum engineers employed in the region.

Although overall gang violence has dropped over the past decade, much of Denver’s crime remains gang-related. A majority of crimes such as crack cocaine and firearm trafficking, homicides, drive-by shootings, aggravated assaults, home invasions, and robberies can be directly traced to gangs.

Crime rates are fairly average for a large city but above national averages. Top crimes include larceny theft, burglary, auto theft, assault, robbery, rape, and murder.
