Dayton, Ohio is a city of about 166,000 and is the sixth largest city in the state. Dayton residents are spread out over an area of around 57 square miles. Dayton is accessed east-west running Interstate 70 and north-south running I-75. I-675 is a bypass which connects the two interstates. US-35 runs east-west through southern Dayton. Public transportation is operated by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA) with bus service throughout the area.

Dayton has a humid subtropical climate as such the city is accustomed to cool winters and hot humid summers. Precipitation is fairly evenly spread throughout the year with the wettest months being in winter and early summer. During late spring and early summer, the region can see violent thunderstorms with severe thunder and lightning storms, torrential rain, hail, and tornadoes.
