Dallas AUTO INSURANCE (TX)

With a population of almost 1.3 million spread over 324 square miles, Dallas, Texas is the ninth largest city in the United States. With no direct route to the sea, the city is part of the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States.

Though historically known for oil and cotton, Dallas’s current economy is based on banking, commerce, telecommunications, computer technology, energy and transportation. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is one of the largest and busiest in the world, making Dallas a major inland port as well as a strong industrial and financial hub.

The Trinity River divides the city but is surrounded by fifty-foot tall earthen levees to protect the city from floods. A recent Trinity River Project however, seeks to improve the riverfront by constructing trails and park facilities.

Dallas is one of the hottest cities in the United States and winters are generally mild. It is in the heart of Tornado Alley and in the spring, the city is subject to severe thunder and lightning storms, torrential rain, hail, and tornadoes.

Voluminous automobile exhaust and heavy industry contribute to a serious air pollution problem giving Dallas the twelfth highest air pollution rate in the United States.

The overall crime rate in Dallas is consistently high with auto and property theft ranking among its top offenses. The Dallas Police Department has approximately 3,500 officers headquartered working to improve crime rates and clean up the city.
