Asheville, North Carolina is a city of around 75,000 spread about an area of about 41 square miles. It is the seat of Buncombe County and is the largest city in western North Carolina. Asheville is the principal city in the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area.

In addition, remnants from Atlantic hurricanes can sometimes affect the area with heavy rain and high winds.
